I grew up the fat kid; I was over 200 pounds by the time I was 12. I struggled with self esteem a lot. I often wondered why me? I didn’t think I ate enough to be as large as I was, but by the time I was 18 years old, I was so unhealthy I had a near death experience that let me know I was not going to survive long weighing 385 pounds. I went extreme; I did what all the skinny girls did: I ate like losing weight was all that mattered. I became anorexic myself. Depriving my body and working out got me to a thin and sickly 139 pounds just a year later. I was 19 years old and 5’10” I was eating around 600 calories a day and would faint if I stood up too fast. I killed my metabolism and when I had surgery and could not exercise for 6 weeks I gained 26 pounds. Well I felt like I needed to get back on the ball, and for a while I was doing well; I started a gym membership and worked out again.
I became pregnant and was determined to have a healthy eating plan throughout. But I had never gotten proper leadership on how to do that. I gained 85 pounds with my first son and went back to 240 pounds. I roller bladed my butt off, had a jogging stroller and still had no clue I was still eating less than I should have. I was able to get back down to 174 then I became pregnant again only 9 months after delivering my first son. Hello! Back up to 256! I left the hospital weighing a pound more than I was with child entering! So there I was 2 little boys, stay at home mom, lots of work out equipment….no energy. I missed family and so we moved back here to Grants Pass from Eugene. I went back to work in 2011 and my workplace had a weight loss competition, I was able to drop down to 232….I was working out at home, began doing Power Yoga and strengthened my core enough to work out more and more. Work had another 6 week competition I got down to 194!
I was motivated but still had no idea how to properly nourish my body. I was sick to my stomach most mornings and I had headaches and mood swings. I felt like I hit a plateau. I was unhappy with how I felt. I knew nutrition was what I was missing. I got my program with the new well and …LIGHT BULB! I began following the program and had no more icky mornings…I weighed 185-187 and I put my goal weight at 170 dressed. Well I was able to get to my goal weight in 2 months and feeling amazing! The new welll had made all the difference. Instead of worrying every day about my weight, I know I have all the tools I need to make great choices, how not so great choices are to be handled and empowered by the control I now have. I worked hard over the years to lose nearly 220 pounds and know now how to keep it off.
I am now happy to say I am a certified wellness consultant at the new well. Sharing the knowledge I learned and my passion for health and wellness. The joy in sharing success with others is a privilege I hold dear to my heart and am thankful for every day.
